MatthewL Posted March 12, 2015 Posted March 12, 2015 Not sure where to put this but is anyone else having/had issues emailing to @btinternet.com addresses from other addresses except the likes of free ones i.e. gmail, yahoo etc. I have tried to send to a few and the response I get is: "[email protected]": SMTP error from remote server in greeting: host: mx.bt.lon5.cpcloud.co.uk: rgin05.bt.ext.cpcloud.co.uk Service not available - access denied My mail is hosted by 1&1 and nothing is reported anywhere. Just wondered if it was me. It says it's a permanent error which I have never come across before.
hookeste Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 Hi I have the same problem - also with an 1and1 hosted account. Any solutions? Steve
sted Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 havnt bt killed those addresses off? so they dont exists anymore?
MatthewL Posted March 13, 2015 Author Posted March 13, 2015 Glad its not just me then. Don't even know where to start jumping at as a few friends have these addresses, don't know if they send me an email weather I am affected.
GrahamN Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 Hi I have been having exactly the same problem sending to Btinternet.com addresses since Wednesday using my 1and1 account - emails with pdf attachments fail - those with no attachments generally work. I contacted 1and1 and they are absolutely clueless and keep telling me to contact my email provider - btinternet.com saying they don't host btinternet. They cannot seem to understand that it is me trying to send with my 1and1 account and btinternet are rejecting it. Never had a problem before.
MatthewL Posted March 14, 2015 Author Posted March 14, 2015 I can't even sent a plain text email, its like it has been blacklisted but it doesn't appear to be from what I can see.
localzuk Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 Have you checked to see if the 1&1 servers have been blacklisted on any spam lists? Email Blacklist Check - See if your server is blacklisted
pudseymalone Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 I'm having the same issue. I'm with BT but my email is redirected from a 1and1 hosted account. I receive some emails fine, but others get bounced back with the error message listed by MatthewL above. One of my colleague also has a BT email address but I only receive half the mails she sends me, which makes me wonder if it's a BT problem? Has anyone managed to sort this out? I don't know where to start and as I work from home it's affecting my work emails.
pudseymalone Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 I see we're not the only ones - there's a BT thread online here https://community.bt.com/t5/Email/Messages-sent-from-Outlook-not-being-received/td-p/1458529
MatthewL Posted March 20, 2015 Author Posted March 20, 2015 BT need to acknowledge the problem but they don't seem bothered.
Lone_Ranger Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 My email I have with BT is @btinternet.com, they are hosted by some American company after BT ditched Yahoo. There has been alleged data issues and all sorts, I don't use the account for any sensitive stuff.
RichardTheBeard Posted March 22, 2015 Posted March 22, 2015 I have the same problem when sending from my 1 and 1 account. When I resend using my BTinternet account, the emails go straight through OK.
RichardTheBeard Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 I believe this is now fixed. I received this from 1and1, I tried a test message and it went through OK so crossed fingers! 1and1's reply: Thank you for contacting us. This is an update about your issue wherein you are unable to send email. The issue has been resolved already. Please resend the email and you should be able to saend it successfully. Thank you for your patience. I tried a test meesage
MatthewL Posted March 28, 2015 Author Posted March 28, 2015 I had contacted 1&1, I received a reply yesterday advising me the affected IP had been delisted. Nice for them to put it on their status page.
