Hi I have been having exactly the same problem sending to Btinternet.com addresses since Wednesday using my 1and1 account - emails with pdf attachments fail - those with no attachments generally work. I contacted 1and1 and they are absolutely clueless and keep telling me to contact my email provider - btinternet.com saying they don't host btinternet. They cannot seem to understand that it is me trying to send with my 1and1 account and btinternet are rejecting it. Never had a problem before.
