Hi guys,

I need your expertise please.

Running Windows Server 2003 Standard on a Dell Tower Sever.

Disk 0 and Disk 1 are mirrored using Windows Mirroring. Primary drive disk 0 seems to be causing problems and I need to replace it asap (although it's showing as being online and healthy).

Both the drives are 1tb each.

How would I go about replacing Disk 0 please? I unplugged disk 0 and tried to boot off secondary plex in the boot menu but got an error message about system files being missing. I freaked out and plugged it all back in how it was.

I've got new 2tb drives in stock and just needed some pointers please.

Many thanks

The server is operating like a snail. I had a look in event viewer and it said something along the lines harddisk0 will fail and to back up data and replace.

There's no proper raid as such as the mirror is done via disk management of windows server 2003.

Oh right - software RAID. Must admit, never really used it as it's no comparison to a hardware based solution. I don't actually know what the correct procedure is - I'm curious myself to know.

I've done hardware raid and is so much better and I've got knowledge of that. I'm too confused about sw raid on server 2003. As it's a primary domain controller I don't really fancy messing around. Rather follow procedures from someone who knows more about it than me.
