Internet issues this morning for lots of ISP's

Morning all,

 

I've seen a few threads ref Internet outages today regarding numerous ISP's.

 

Just to let you know Talk Talk Wholesale have had a major outage affecting lots of ISP's and direct customers due to a fibre issue with one of their wholesale providers Zayo Group (formerly Geo Networks). It's not affecting their whole network but we're seeing numerous circuits affected.

 

If you've got a backup DSL or FTTC with us though fear not as this uses BT Wholesale so is completely separate and we can confirm are working.

Not sure if the problem is fully sorted, but we're now back up and running after having nothing since about 8:30

We're starting to see some circuits come back but then go down again. Looks like they've nearly fixed it

Just got back online here! Sods law, our backline line hasn't been installed yet, our new line went live Tuesday night

Been keeping an eye on Entanet's NOC, fibre break between Telehouse North and Hemel Hempstead.

 

This morning has been *bliss*. Productivity across the school tripled! Quite a few staff have asked us to keep it off

Really Dave? We didn't see any at all (genuinely, not a competitor dig)! Was it just their DSL/EoFTTC traffic affected or the whole side (L/L, EFM)?

Everything, but only in certain areas. Presume you don't have any customers in certain places or any with Talk Talk wholesale as I know a lot of ISPs were affected

Would seem very unlikely that we didn't have customers in those areas if most were affected (given how many thousands we have throughout the UK), but as we don't currently use Talk Talk as a principal wholesale provider for DSL circuits that could be why our customers weren't affected? We do use their infrastructure for leased lines, as well as Openreach and others, and to be fair a pretty good coverage of hundreds of secondary schools that have leased lines in throughout the UK, just surprised they weren't affected, unless of course it was just the DSL side?

 

Have to say TT's network is generally very reliable, so was surprised when I read this.

 

As I said Dave, wasn't a competitor dig this, and I have since since other ISP's who use the Talk Talk DSL platform were affected, so I am guessing it was mainly that side? Looks like there was another outage last night (Friday) too.

Not good for them then. I don't sell Talk Talk DSL so can't comment on if they had lots of problems bar what I've seen on the Talk Talk outage page.
