Office365 and smtp

Hi

 

Have just moved our email over to Office365 and crossed fingers all appears to be well....

 

I now need to configure our INSIGHT parent's portal and website to allow the posting of emails from webpages.

 

Under the old exchange system I just added the smtp server and account details and it worked!

 

Has anyone any experience of this with Office365?

 

I have attached the config screen from Insight.

Depending on how many others servers you want to send mail it may be easier to set up an internal relay server and bounce mail off that way.

I had to create a VM which is running SMTP Server (part of IIS 6 install) - this acts a SMTP relay for devices on our network. This sits on the same SWGfL IP address that we had our Exchange Server on as this allows SMPT traffic through the firewall. Devices and Apps on our network then connect to this for sending e-mail through. This then sends out the mail via the SWGfL SMTP relay address.

We also setup a local SMTP relay on a windows box since the SWGfL firewall blocked it direct for some reason.

It depends if the device supports TLS. If it does you can go direct to SMTP.office365.com.

 

If it doesn't then use a relay, the relay will need ports 587 and 25 opened outbound to SMTP.office365.com

You could always set up a sendgrid account.
