Office 365 - New Licence? (Office 365 Education for Students)

I assume these extra licences don't expire? The ones via EEES do so would make sense to switch them.

Yes you as an admin can assign on their behalf or they can do it themselves via the links I posted earlier

This is all part of the Office for Education Individual Sign-Up, It has been over in the US for a while now and it's starting to be pushed out over here now. In essence, if your school is not using Office 365 today it allows students and staff to get access to Office etc. without YOU the admin doing anything :-) if, your already using Office 365 then these licenses will appear against your Office 365 tenant that you already have today.. you can leave the -AllowAdHocSubscriptions set to $true which means as staff/students sign-up they will automatically be allowed access if you set it to $false this means that you as the admin need to assign the licenses.

 

If your not on Office 365 today, then your staff and students can do this without you having to do anything. the first person to sign-up to the service, it will check in the background if the domain has already been registered against an Office 365 Service and if not, it will go ahead and create a AAD Tenant in the background to home the users in... If later you sign-up to Office 365 for example, as an IT admin you will in essence take over the AAD tenant + Licenses that has been created in the background and you'll become an admin of that and then continue as normal with Microsoft Online Services (but without having to sign-up for yourselves through the normal methods) :-)

Yes there is a new module but it will tell you that it needs updating when you connect to Office 365.

We got last week 1,000,000 students licenses and 500,000 faculty licenses just by someone using there school email address to attempt to signup. If any one wants to add these licenses to the office 365 organisation/domain then I can post the links for student activation and teacher/faculty activation. Use any organisational email to do this. You only need to attempt this once for student and once for faculty.

So just enter my email address in there? Until it confirms I already have a license?

I tried that but it comes back with:

 

We can't sign you up right now because we can't verify your school is on our list of eligible institutions. Check back in a few days to see if your school is eligible.

 

We already use Office 365 for online Protection to our on-premesis exchange server and for ProPlus for students; We have our students sync'd with it and added in all our domains that we use. I tried signing up with our main domain name and also the Microsoft generated (onmicrosoft.com) one and it says the same thing.

 

When I goto assign a license it only has this as the options:

 

Do we need to be patient?

Simple as that, then login to admin side and you will see the magic licenses appear
