Phone repairs

Good day folks.

 

I'm the IT tech of a building company. We have given all the managers Samsung S4's. 3-4 of the phones have been in for repair for broken glass already.

 

Now. Each phone costs £120+ for parts and labour. So me been me.. Iv had a look around the the interwebz and found this:

Is it worth it? The screens are fine. Its just the glass that has been cracked.

From what I've heard, the process of separating the digitizer (glass) and LCD is really difficult, and if you don't get the glue bit right, there will be a permanent 'oil slick' pattern on the screen.

 

Saying that, having looked at the instructions on that eBay listing, it seems relatively straight forward. Might be worth a go on the next one that breaks- if you mess it up, it's about £60 for a full LCD/Digitizer assembly on eBay from Hong Kong- so still well under the £120 repair price you've been paying

I repair 2 or 3 phones a week and the Galaxy is a nightmare compared to iphones. That kit you have linked to isn't using genuine Gorilla glass and it's lacking the UV light needed to set the LOCA glue. Not being Gorilla glass means it's more likely to break again in the future.

£90 will buy you a genuine frame and screen and it only takes a few minutes to swap everything over.

Beware cheap eBay screens/glass.

 

My Dad broke the glass and screen on his HTC which I tried to fix for him with a supposedly genuine replacement from eBay (not even Hong Kong). It was of very poor quality, it didn't fit properly, the LCD panel was poor and the digitiser was very inaccurate. Phone ended up scrapped. Was a pig to do as well.
