The current situation at my school is that we have an outdated moodle server, which will fall over any day now, and we also have "RealSmart" which is basicly an overlay for google drive.

We are trying to work out what steps to take, I personally would like to keep things in-house, however, we cannot spend the time to maintain and update the VLE constantly.

Does anyone know of any companies that make a VLE tailored to the schools needs and who offers support for it?

I have tried looking around, but this is something that is quite hard to look for, so I would be very grateful for any suggestions.

Thank you.

It's learning is a VLE company that has educational specialists who work with your school improvement plan to help tailor the VLE to your needs, currently has a very moodle like look to it at the moment but have seen their new improved model that is set to be rolling out this year and it looks a lot smoother and more user friendly

eSchools have two separate bespoke platforms, one for secondary and one for primary, both have a similar look and feel but the aim of the primary version is to strip away the unnecessary stuff due to the younger audience

again very user friendly and easy for staff members to pick up, they have right-back abilities with SIMS and other 3rd party companies

Both companies will have sales/technical people in your area that could come out and do a quick 1 hour demo to explain how it all works and how they could help you

I've worked extensively with itslearning (building a customised platform/courses as well as providing demos and training) and it is excellent. Very easy to use and robust.

It can be customised, along with most VLEs but it all depends on your requirements. I always tell my clients to specify exactly what it is you want the VLE to do for you first. Every VLE company has its USP but what is the priority, what are the outcomes? From that, you can source a suitable solution (or get someone like me to find it for you!) Funnily enough, I'm in the process of recommending RealSmart to a client, but obviously that doesnt sound like it works for the OP.

The company I mentioned above (Earete) offer a much more bespoke service, meaning they can build in functionality for you at a school level, rather than making existing functionality work for you. Without knowing the detail, I can't guarantee it's a right fit, but I don't know of anyone else doing that with their own inhouse system (would be interested in hearing otherwise though!)
