46 Days Remaining :S Office 365

Hi,

 

I am just wondering if you can help me. I signed up to the Azure trial but then i cancelled the trial a while ago.

 

Now when i sign in to office 365 i get an error saying Dont Lose Your Data. 46 Days Remaining.

 

What will this mean?

 

I have tried speaking to Office 365 support who then said i need to speak to Azure support.

 

I have spoken to Azure support and now they are saying speak to office 365.

 

 

I am confused and obviously don't want to lose any data. I thought Azure was free for dirsync?

Office 365 has Azure behind it and wont work without it. The trial you have is most likely for a different part of Azure.

 

If you go to your Office 365 admin area - portal.office.com/admin/default.aspx , under the Admin section you should see Azure AD. Click this link to be taken to the Azure management area - https://manage.windowsazure.com/.

 

Once you get to the Azure AD management area you can goto Settings, the first panel that will be displayed is your subscriptions. Here you can see what active subscriptions you have, and included in the list should be the trial you have signed yourself up to and since cancelled.

 

The only thing I have listed is "Access to Azure Active Directory" which as you might expect gives me access to view Azure AD, nothing more.

You shouldn't need to worry, that isn't to say you shouldn't follow up with them to be 100% sure (but since O365 relies on Azure AD I doubt it's possible for you to lose data in this way). The 'Access to Azure Active Directory' subscription is one that you will have activated by accessing Azure AD through O365 and a browser. By default you can use DirSync without activating any Azure AD features and without accessing it at any time.

 

Did you find out what the trial was? I presume it was to do with Applications in Azure?

That will be Azure AD Premium (or Basic), which brings in extra features in addition to Azure AD. You are safe to let it run down.

 

 

Office 365 uses Azure AD Free for authentication - i.e. Where Dirsync syncs to when it runs.

Yer it is Azure. Thank you all for your help. I spoke to someone from azure and office 365 and they still cant tell me what will happen when it runs out so I am hoping no staff lose any data! I guess I will have to wait and see.

Hi,

 

That warning is related to a SKU that you have trialed or that has now expired and so the warning is saying that any data (in which you need that SKU for, such as Mailboxes / SharePoint Data etc.) will be lost if you don't purchase the relevant subscription, this also goes for Azure AD Premium and in that scenario it means that any features you use with Azure AD premium will be lost (no data as such as linked to AAD Premium so you have nothing to worry about in that sense).

 

When this happens, the Azure AD will still stay around and you will able to access the portal (portal.office.com) or (mange.windowsazure.com) without any problems, with the exception of that to access the azure portal you will need to have at least a $0 subscription or/ a PAYandGO Azure Subscription. (these subscriptions won't show up in the portal though as expiring as these are different types of subscriptions).

 

You will still be able to use Synchronization via DirSync, and in essence you will just be using the Azure AD FREE service with No SaaS Applications (1st party services such as Office 365, Dynamics CRM, Intune) and you won't have AAD Premium.
