The iTunes Store ID of the application could not be validated
Feb 22 09:12	Install app 'Solar Walk™ - Planets of the Solar System'	Error - The iTunes Store ID of the application could not be validated. Feb 22 09:12

Morning everyone,

Hope your are well.

I've bought apps under Meraki VPP and invited and associated apple ids with it. The first few apps pushed perfectly fine however some of the apps didn't get pushed. I am trying to push the missing apps onto the devices but the following [given above] error keeping coming up under Activity log. I forced sync iPads but still no luck. What am I doing wrong?

Your help will be highly appreciated.

Regards

Morning Rob,

Click VPP and under Licensed applications click on the app for example "solar walk"select the users you want to grant licenses, click "grant license to users" a message ( on top in green)will appear " successfully granted license". Go to Monitor --> clients and click the client and re-push the app.

Or go to MDM --> Apps and repush to missing.

Note: If you grant license to the user from VPP, it will appear under AppStore --> purchased (on iPad) but please do not install it from there. If you do you're going to have issues like what I am having now. It will appear in Meraki Installed (unmanaged) - you don't want that (I don't know how to remove "unmanaged" directly from MDM and I have created profile where users are not allowed to remove apps) In order to push the app after granting license is by going to MDM --> Apps look for the same app and push Re-push to all or missing. Please click on the option Remove with MDM and save (remove with MDM option would remove the app when MDM is removed).

P.S. Forgot to mention the error appears because we didn't grant license to users to be able to use it under VPP

I presume you are using managed distribution with Meraki, can you buy managed distribution licences using the embedded App Store from within the Meraki interface?

Yes, I bought managed licenses directly from within Meraki VPP link. Click MDM -->VPP and then click on the link.

Purchase licenses using the Apple VPP store . Licenses can be associated with a users's iTunes account after they have received and accepted a VPP invitation from your organization.

Note: iOS devices can only use VPP licenses if they are running iOS7 or newer

It's so much easier to push apps like this. One thing that I would like to add here though, pushing apps over the network does take some time and at times it misses one or two devices. So just bear that in mind and always check if some are missing. Re-push the missing apps and then refresh the page to see if all is done.

Hi,

I am new to Meraki, I am getting the same error message as above. I am trying to deploy free apps. I have not entered any apple ID in Meraki, would that be the problem? Where do I add the apple ID in Meraki? I know where the VPP in Meraki is, is that where I enter the apple ID?

Thanks in advance.

Here's a checklist of things that need to be in place. This works for me.

The USER and DEVICE tags are my invention, but it all seems to match up, in my mind anyway.

1. Apple MDM certificate and VPP account registered in https://n100.meraki.com/o/M-xr3c/manage/organization/pcc

2. App added as a licenced Application in https://n100.meraki.com/iPads/n/hHP_qbKb/manage/configure/vpp

3. Also, select Auto Grant and Revoke in the above page (step 2) for that App by ticking the App and selecting Edit Auto-management

4. Also, click on the App mentioned above and ensure that there are enough licences available

5. Go to https://n100.meraki.com/iPads/n/hHP_qbKb/manage/pcc/list and click on iPad. Check that it has the owner that you expect

6. ALso, in https://n100.meraki.com/iPads/n/hHP_qbKb/manage/pcc/list Select the iPad and give it an appropriate DEVICE tag

7. Go to https://n100.meraki.com/iPads/n/hHP_qbKb/manage/configure/pcc_users and check that user exists and has a USER tag.

8. Go back to https://n100.meraki.com/iPads/n/hHP_qbKb/manage/configure/vpp, click the App and check that the user has a matching USER tag and that it is licenced to use the App

9. Go to https://n100.meraki.com/iPads/n/hHP_qbKb/manage/configure/apps and add and assign the App and give it a DEVICE tag that matches with step 6
