boomam Posted December 6, 2007 Posted December 6, 2007 Hi. Does anyone know if the Axis Camera suite software should come with the Axis Cameras? We had 2x 210As here when i started , but theres no software around for them anywhere?. Im getting a little annoyed at some Linux software im trying to get to do the same job. Thanks in advance all.
Nij.UK Posted December 6, 2007 Posted December 6, 2007 are you lookin for the software as central management of the camera's i thought these all came with a built in web server where you could view them in a browser.
boomam Posted December 6, 2007 Author Posted December 6, 2007 Nope, we're looking to record. The CameraStationOne software can be DLed for free, but it only does one camera at a time. Thanks. .
wesleyw Posted December 6, 2007 Posted December 6, 2007 I'm sure you have to buy the central package separate I think there should be something to view upto 4 cameras with the cds sent out but I can't be positive. I take it you're looking at zoneminder as the linux software? Wes
Disease Posted December 6, 2007 Posted December 6, 2007 The camera station software to record the video is license based, We had a 10 camera license that has now been expanded by another 5 to 15 cameras. We put them all in ourselves including the external ones. Works great. We run it on standard XP machine although we have just upgraded the hardware and drives due to expansion. Just order the camera station license and stick it on an xp machine with a decent hdd and bob's your uncle, or aunt if they are into that sort of thing.
boomam Posted December 6, 2007 Author Posted December 6, 2007 I take it you're looking at zoneminder as the linux software? Wes Yes. And it doesnt work. Followed loads of guides and asked on the forums for it, still no luck. . So im gonna have to buy the proper camera station software?
Ric_ Posted December 6, 2007 Posted December 6, 2007 @booman: It does work... did you not try the Live disk?
boomam Posted December 6, 2007 Author Posted December 6, 2007 Couldnt get it to download. :-p Just doesnt seem to show anything on the one camera ive supposidly got setup on it, just shows a broken applet in FF or IE.
klawd Posted December 6, 2007 Posted December 6, 2007 The axis software (Camera Station) is pretty lousy, it seemed to drop out regularly and the activation crap is a nightmare. Overpriced too. I ended up writing a system in delphi+videolan which does exactly what we need (recording in 15 minute blocks), seems to be more reliable and is less CPU intensive to go with it. 14 cameras recording constantly, relaying stream to clients, less than 20% cpu in use, on a AMD 4400.
