Warning to people deleting computer accounts from the AD

I just discovered that Active directory considers linux machines which are domain members to be inactive - so will turn up as having stale passwords if you do a dsquery computer -stalepwd check.

 

I just found this out as I merrily deleted 3 machine accounts for our 3 linux servers so no-one could then log in to the sites they ran. Fixed now, but just a warning!

This would also apply to Macs, windows machines frequently update their computer objects in AD.
