fiza Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 We have a TOA A-1712 PA Amplifier which has worked fine for the last 4 years. Now although the Amp looks fine when you switch it on we get no sound from the attached speakers or from the Microphone (Audio Technica ATW-2119) that goes through it. Its out of warranty so I need to get it repaired. I thought I would ask on here if anyone knows what the issue could be and possible fix before I send it off to TOA for inspection and repair. Thanks in advance for any assistance.
Chris_ Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 I assume there is power to the amp and you've checked the speaker wires are still connected? Have you tried a known working microphone? Or a phono to jack cable and a phone? Are the appropriate zone 1/2 buttons pressed in? 1
paulellam Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 Disconnect all attached equipment/cables and re-attach one by one, we had similar and it was a faulty speaker and the amp safety circuit kicked in and turned all output off. Might be a similar problem? 1

Yes, yes, yes and yes - - - Updated - - - Disconnect all attached equipment/cables and re-attach one by one, we had similar and it was a faulty speaker and the amp safety circuit kicked in and turned all output off. Andrew_C Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 If there is one local to you, any hifi / tv repair man should be able to fix it. Nothing complex inside, and might be a whole lot easier than getting it back to Toa.

We had the situation where the amp was killed by a faulty speaker (it fryed the circuit) then we connected another new amp and it fryed that too

difinity Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 So you're using a different input now ? from the looks of the manual the microphone input is -60dB and the aux is -20dB which would account for the difference in volume, that points to the mic input circuit as faulty.
