Quota Management in WUDSS (R2)

We are running one of Dell's NX systems which runs Unified Data Storage - the R2 version of Storage Server basically.

 

Anyway,

 

I've mastered everything I want to achieve with all the new features, File Screening etc, but I can't do Quota Management.

 

I have all the students on the volume which needs Quota's, and I enabled the Quota on the volume.

 

The only problem with this is that it never picks up the true size of a users home drive - For example, there's a student I know to have a 4.9GB folder, however, Quota Management is insistant that it's just a mere.... 25kb?

 

Even though quota's are enabled on the volume, people are still totally free to exceed their limit - and it has been set to deny space to students who exceed their limit.

 

Anyone have any ideas on this?

Files only contribute to a users quota if the user is the owner of the file.

Geoff is correct the standard windows quota software scans the entire volume and works out how much space is used by each user by file ownership.

 

If you are using R2 then i'd install the file server resource manager which is set at the folder level and is more effective.

I guess that explains a lot (like why Administrators has 200GB) and stuff
