NumberSix Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 Hello, Just wondering how people are encrypting their staff laptops (running Windows 7 Pro) - (I know how to do this on Windows 8 with Bitlocker so I'm specifically interested in how to do this relatively pain free with Windows 7 Pro) McAfee Endpoint Encryption is something I'm looking into but would be interested to see how other people have encrypted staff laptops running Windows 7 Pro version. Thanks
DaveAngel Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 We were using Trucrypt (recommended by our LEA) which asked users to enter an encryption key of our choosing before the device would boot into Windows, I found it simple to use and it allowed us to keep a backup of every restore cd in iso form. Hope this helps.
sted Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 i thought truecrypt had been effectively shelved by the developers?
DaveAngel Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 It has been shelved, but the current version works fine.
LeMarchand Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 i thought truecrypt had been effectively shelved by the developers? Yes, though there was some debate as to whether it was broken and the devs had had enough or whether they were forced to shut down by/build in a back door for/hand over the keys to the kingdom by "the man".
Abaddon Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 We use BitLocker with the laptops TPM (we bought specifically with this in mind) with Win 7 Enterprise installed.
