Smart Board SB660 cable

This should be easy but....

 

I have just started here and one of the SmartBoard isn't working. On checking the USB cable looks broken - metal bit on the end bent and inside all out of shape.

 

Funny thing is that the USB port on the Smart Board is a USB Type A - as is the port on the computer (obviously). I have worked on a lot of Smart Boards and every one has had a Type B on the board so this is strange to me.

 

I have ordered a new type A to Type A and it doesn't help so I rang Smart and spoke to a very polite American bloke who had also never heard of a Type A connector on the board - also not of his colleagues had.

 

So I was hoping that someone here has the same sort of thing and can tell me what cable to get

You could try a USB A to female B and then a normal USB A to B.

 

What did the broken wire look like? If you still have it and post a picture it could help us find\suggest a wire that could work before ordering any other wires.

But any - it is basically just a cable with a USB type A at each end - exactly the same as each other - and the same as I would normally expect to plug into the USB port on a PC

I've seen this! A long time ago... My boss thought I was being an idiot, but I wasn't.

 

We got sent one of these in a batch of 30 standard SB680's. At the time, probably 2006, the board was some special thing designed to plug into a smart supplied connection wall plate or smart projector. We sent it back and got the right one.

 

Has the board ever worked in living memory? It may be that the projector/wall plate has been changed and there is now no way of connecting to it.
