Joanne Posted January 24, 2015 Posted January 24, 2015 Had a go on the Occulus Rift on the stone stand. Got asked if I had been drinking the night before! Hahahah. 1
vikpaw Posted January 24, 2015 Posted January 24, 2015 (edited) honey I shrunk @Little-Miss with @IntelEDU tech stand C270 #Bett2015 http://t.co/o65SrOI3zr Edited January 24, 2015 by vikpaw 2
Dos_Box Posted January 24, 2015 Author Posted January 24, 2015 The Raspberry Pi powered Fuze on the European Electronique stand. I loved the Pi powered screen in the Lego house
scholarpack Posted January 24, 2015 Posted January 24, 2015 It was starting to feel like a highlander style Gathering as the MIS players converged at BETT. "There can be only one" @penfold_99 @PhilNeal @scholarpack @PRastall I think there's about 15 suppliers now including Independents! Good to see 4 or 5 new players trying to break into UK MIS market at BETT. 1

I agree was having a conversation about you and other mis providers and next 18 months are critical to MIS market. A number of changes and chances for other people in market other than capita to get stronger foothold.. Russell 1
Tallwood_6 Posted January 25, 2015 Posted January 25, 2015 The same is true of VLEs everyone gravitates to Frog but it was nice to see some competition. Firefly looked really good.
Edu-IT Posted January 25, 2015 Posted January 25, 2015 The same is true of VLEs everyone gravitates to Frog but it was nice to see some competition. Firefly looked really good. The Firefly stand was really popular. Feature wise, is it a true competitor for Frog?
Tallwood_6 Posted January 25, 2015 Posted January 25, 2015 It's a bit hard to tell in a 15 minute demo but it looks to be as full featured as Froglearn but an awful lot slicker. I was also impressed with iSams on the MIS front it would be great to see some of the smaller players grab market share and shake thing up a bit.
DrCheese Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 Firefly looked really good. Yes... it really did :X It's thrown a spanner in some of my plans, haha.
CAM Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 Agreed, Firefly does seem worthy of a closer work. You can make some good class resources quickly with drag and drop including web page snippets, text, pictures, etc.
Tallwood_6 Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 If the hosted version of firefly will do ad authentication and internal drive mapping which they seemed to suggest it would and the price is right I think we would join several other local schools locally in dumping Frog.
foofighterjim Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 Firefily is expensive though. I tried (and failed) to get funding for it last year and the year before that . Looks like I will have to find something less expensive, possibly invest into 3rd party tools for Moodle.
foofighterjim Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 Can be any worse cost wise than Frog...! Get a quote, see what you think. Can't knock the Firefly platform, it is awesome.

Can be any worse cost wise than Frog...! De-railing a bit, but Frog is more drag and drop friendly than Firefly, at least compared to the last time i saw it. We thought Frog was more end user friendly. It does Ad auth and drive mapping, plus the price has come down lots in the past few years. Interested to know what you dislike about it - can we start another thread on the topic. We're just about to start training on it.
Tallwood_6 Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 I am happy to PM you a long list of reasons I don't frog but I had a firefly demo login sent to me yesterday which I've passed to a few of our main frog users I I'll bet that the majority will prefer it simply because its got a clearer workflow, is simpler to use and looks good. 1
vikpaw Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 Yes please pm. Or I'll drop you my email . When I demoed firefly, albeit a couple of years ago it was nice but a bit officey/ sharepointy . Good for technically able but not so for the less adept. But things may well have changed.
