Print server with 2 NICs for guest printing

To print from a guest network i was thinking of adding a second network card on the guest subnet and using that print server to connect to the domain printers.

 

The guest network is of course less secure, so do you use an extra firewall on the print server or just windows firewall?

Adding a second NIC will cause your print server to bridge the two security zones... Therefore no more security.

 

If your guest network needs printing you may need another printer or a printer you can mail jobs to.

Do you have a virtual infrastructure that would allow you to build a new VM? You could just knock it together on an old box too, or something power efficient like a Microserver on even a NUC.

I was worried about bridging the networks so i thought a firewall on the print server might help. It's for roaming ipads and i haven't got papercut, just an old print management system.

 

Other plan was to clone my virtual print server and put it on the guest network with corresponding IP, but the printers only have one IP address.

 

Another option is to buy a wireless printer to go with the ipads (direct print) but it needs to be a small portable'ish one. Anyone got any non-papercut ideas?

Not played myself but if you get one of those HP cloud printers then an iPad app can print to them. Fairly sure it does all the work for you but does mean a new printer or two.
