No joy with that at all. This is now really bugging me as staff seem to think I'm sat on my arse doing nothing about it.

Try installing the User Profile Hive cleanup - http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=1B286E6D-8912-4E18-B570-42470E2F3582&displaylang=en

 

Sometimes, if programs don't unload the registry properly at logoff you can see this sort of thing - UPHClean just forces the registry hives closed so logoff is smoother (you'll see an entry in the log telling you that the hive was closed)

I have already tried that and it didn't make any difference at all.

From what you describe, I would be inclined to say it is a profile related issue.

 

You can logon as domain admin and locally with no problems, however other users have intermittent problems. The fact profiles are mandatory means their sizes are controlled, so as long as they're not larger than 10MB you should be ok.

 

Are profiles set to cache locally? I had a problem ages ago that was due to a stubborn (more than likely corrupted) locally cached profile that created lots of problems. I now set locally cached profiles to be deleted upon logoff for all users by group policy.

 

Computer Config > Admin Templates > System > User Profiles

 

Enable - Delete cached copies of roaming profiles

From what you describe, I would be inclined to say it is a profile related issue.

Personally, I would delete the profile of one of the users and then try logging on/off, as it sounds like a profile problem. Hope this helps.
