hyb80 Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 Hi All Our support contract is up for Impero and other than RM Tutor I have nothing to compare it to in my experience, impero being vastly superior. But as our support is up I thought I would see what other people are using, Net Support seems to be the popular choice. Has anyone moved from Impero to netsupport or other recently? Cheers in advance
Edu-IT Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 RM Tutor is essentially NetSupport. At least, part of their offering. What is the reason for the move? Money? Otherwise, why change something that works?
hyb80 Posted January 7, 2015 Author Posted January 7, 2015 Potentially money, partially reliability and support for products we bought into that pretty useless in their current state, eg patch management. I feel it is good to review other options annually. Just because it works doesn't mean something out there doesn't do it just as well possibly better.
Edu-IT Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 I *think* you can buy just the modules you want now, so may be a way to save?
Arreks Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 What do you primarily use Impero for currently? just remote management? do you use the other features that come with it, eco/power management, log viewer, inventory, print credit system etc. Impero is pretty much top-of-the-line for what it does. It would be very hard to find something similar without compromising functionality. 1
synaesthesia Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 Also worth noting it's not end of the line if you feel it's not worth the money, what you pay is supports, upgrades etc so it will still function should you decide not to and revisit it again should the parts you need improving do.
round2it Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 i ditched net support as it was way too exspensive and it crashed older machines. i went with lan school as it just works. if you get a quote ask for migration pricing (i got a huge discount)
Wubbalubbadub Posted January 9, 2015 Posted January 9, 2015 Iv moved from Net-support to Impero. Would never look back. Luckily the new school i just started at already have impero. 1
mrforgetful Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 We use AB Tutor. Much cheaper and has loads of features.
sonofsanta Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 LanSchool for us, as we just needed the classroom management and it does it much cheaper than the all-in approach of NetSupport & Impero.
RichCowell Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 I've never known support as good or fast as Impero's... we've been using it for several years now, and I certainly wouldn't consider changing... The reliability of the software is fantastic... If you compare the price of Impero to the cost of all the individual solutions it covers (especially e-safety) I think it still works out cheaper... I do agree the price of their annual support is unreasonably high, and difficult for the bill-payers to understand, but their support is awesome, and they do release regular updates etc. We had an issue with Patch Management for a while, and they were working remotely on the server for several days to try to diagnose and resolve the issue... I really can't fault them, or praise them highly enough... 1
synaesthesia Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 Impero are often flexible, and have been more than willing to help out with costs by cutting down on some of the modular features. If there's particular issues with reliability I'd be certain they wouldn't have a problem helping out; as above, their support has been second to none; just last week I'd asked a question and it was answered within minutes. I credited them with "easily the fastest, accurate technical support I've ever received." Can't say I've ever noticed issues with reliability either at the primary with 50 machines, or here with 600. 1
