"application blocked by java security" does anyone know how to fix?

Hi everyone, we recently ran into a problem while trying to run a web based application called Greenfoot. When trying to access we get the following error "application blocked by java security".

 

We have gone into our msi and edited the security settings to medium but still no joy.

 

Has anyone had any similar issue or have and suggestions?

Didn't think there was a medium setting in java 8? Only high and very high

If you try version 7 of java - is that the same or what exactly ?

 

Presume the site is in the white list / exception list ( under security settings via control panel --> java etc )

Presumably you mean the full URL of the site so http or https so for example

 

https://www.domain.com:8080

 

or whatever ?

You could try what @free780 suggested in the following thread and use deployment rulesets.

It does mean buying a code signing certificate though.

 

Another option would be to downgrade to the latest Java 7 version (Update 71 or 72). This still supports the Medium security level.

 

Ideally Greenfoot should fix the issue themselves by digitally signing the .jar files. Have you tried contacting them?
