Thanks but I don't think you actually read my question "We have changed the hosts file to redirect to the new server".

Hi All, We are trying to creat a redirect from one server to another. The reason being is that we have transfered all users home folders from an old server to a new one and before we change the entry on DNS so that clients redirect to the new server shares on the new server rather than the origional shares on the old we want to test it on one client. We have chenged the hosts file to redirect to the new server and when doing a ping test it shows its pinging the correct new server. However when we do NSlookup it still resolves to the old server. This is confirmed by seeing that when we create a document and save it in the users home drive it is still saving in users share on the old server. Would anyone know a quick way to test this without having to change the record on DNS? Regards Aaron

Hi All, I know this has been asked a thousand times in other posts but I am fairly new to MAC and I wondered if anyone can dumb it down for me in a kinda step my step instruction? I have lot the logout script and I understand that I need to do it as a logout hook but I have no experience on doing any scripting from a MAC server and all of the tutorials I find seem to assume that you already know how to do this. I have tried researching but I just cant quite get my head around it. Please help if you can. Regards

Hi All, Could anyone please recommend any software to me that a teacher can use for there classes on app creation. I know there is app inventor but this requires a google account and also Chrome or Firefox and we just worry because you can have more freedom in the content that you view when signed in and on another browser and this is a bit of a worry. Also it has to have a screen view on built in so you can preview your app. Is there any alternatives or suggestions? Thanks Aaron

Hi All, I wondered if anyone knew if there's a script I could use to delete the My Settings folder at log-in which is stored on the users network location? The issue we are having is that after migrating to Vanilla we have had many students with corrupt My settings folders and it has led to many students experiencing all kinds of issues. Renaming of deleting this before any application are open works fine after windows creates the new one but of course only we can do this from accessing there area from our side. I am pretty new to IT and have only some basic experience with scripts but I have been using a script to delete folders to test for myself but I don't know if its possible to direct that script to there network drive due to either permissions (As its a user with no admin rights but I didn't know if windows was smart enough to know it has had the script pushed to it from our server that has admin rights) or because I simply cant change the location to that drive). I know that there could be an option of deleting all of these folders from the server but it would be good to know the answers to my question as its good knowledge to have and also we have already tried this by searching for my settings folder in the student location which populated around 1000 of these and we selected all and hit delete but still had problems. Hi, we are having some trouble with a load of encrypted drives that one of our school uses. The drive is recognised but when you try to launch the software under a test teacher account nothing happens, where as if you do this under an administrator account the software runs fine. I've spoken to Kingston on the phone and they couldn't provide me with any solutions. I cant find anything about the actual USB stick that I am using either. Has anyone had a similar issues or have an idea that they could share? Thanks

Sorry I just noticed that if I log back into the 365 web outlook app of the calender I want to share then when I click back on permissions they have changed themselves back to limited details instead of delegate. This happens every time I select delegate and save. Thanks

Hi all, we had an issue with Office loading incorrectly on one of our machines our receptionist uses. I tried everything you could try and ended up rebuilding the machine as it was clearly not well. This fixed the issue with Office loading incorrectly but now after we logged the same person back into Office they now don't have the option to share there calendar to anyone else even though they could before the rebuild. Things that I have checked and tried: Right clicked on the callender in outlook and checked permissions Signed into office administrator account and checked the permissions on the calender email address Signed into the calender account and did the same All of these things where or are now correct and I still have greyed out options for share calender, publish online and calender permissions in outlook for our receptionist. Any ideas? Thanks

Hi, anyone know what I can try to get this working? I was in SIMS and was just trying to set a password for one of the members of staff and it came up with a message which I clicked and it booted me out of SIMS. I cant remember what this message said now. The issue is when I tried to log back in it wouldn't let me with the same credentials that I was using before now we cant get into SIMS using any credentials that we can remember. I really am at a loose end here as to what is going on does anyone have any ideas? Thanks

Hi everyone, we recently ran into a problem while trying to run a web based application called Greenfoot. When trying to access we get the following error "application blocked by java security". We have gone into our msi and edited the security settings to medium but still no joy. Has anyone had any similar issue or have and suggestions? We are running Java 8

Hi Guys, this is probably an easy one but I just wondered if someone can tell me where I need to go on our MAC server to manage the safari plug-ins? I need to set Adobe to 'Always allow'. As I find a lot on Macs there's plenty of sites telling you how to do it on your own machine but none telling you how to do it across a network. Thanks

Guys you have sorted this out for me I thank you for your jedi ways I have also limited this to one person to edit like suggested. One other problem has now arisen though I understand that there is a list of codes that are there for each condition that the kids have. There are a list of about 20 conditions from the drop down menu but there are lots more missing. is there some kind of list I can print off for them to use here.

Hi Joanne, we have a GPO to change the wallpaper back but it doesn't apply it for some reason.

Ok guys we set up a KMS server and all seems to be working well now with activation so thanks for your help. Don't really understand why we needed to do that as we only have 29 computers on the network and just couldn't understand why it was so difficult. Now however we have a new issue and that is that all the clients still show the black wallpaper with Windows is not genuine in the bottom right. But the machines are all happy that they are genuine. Anyone have any ideas?

Hi, Thanks for the reply! Yes is a MAK. We have checked the licences in VLSC and we have plenty left and still the same problem. it even accepts the key while the computer in on but upon restart it drops out again.
