This is acceptable, but I get grief for liking ponies...

Ben and Holly's Little Kingdom is by far and out the best, lots of older humour!

Strangely enough, I'm totally fine with large spiders (I even had a big ol' chilean rose as a pet at one point) but I absolutely hate anything smaller! I think it's because of how fast house spiders are..

My house seems to just contain those horrible spindly ones with the long legs and little body...*shudders*

I spent summer hoovering them up.

I usually take the same approach as @CAM, if they're not anywhere near me, they can stay where they are. If they do make the mistake of having a wander around the carpet, they go under a pint glass and i wait for someone to take it outside.

Interesting. Where do you spray it? Is it a preventative or direct use on spiders??

Just every couple of months around the door frame/window frames and the odd squirt into the corner of rooms. Seems to work wonders (Haven't seen a spider in the house for about a year, although they might just be hiding from me :) )

That's because you're checking where you've sprayed.

They're all hidden now. Curtain linings, under your toilet seat, inside your pillows.. And don't even think about turning on the shower.. ;)

So, after all consideration i will get the traps, sprays, conkers and spider bombs. I'll experiment around with them and see what happens.

Last resort, live in Antarctica.

I cannot get over my fear for them. Once i see it, i fixate on it, forever, until it dies. Sure i can pull myself away when in the garden, that's fine. I don't sleep in the garden, i don't eat in the garden (not usually anyway), i don't wash in the garden.

My rule is, if they're outside, that's fine. They're not welcome in my home...

I was listening to one colleague who said a family in Lallonlaggolen? (in wales?) went to the extreme and fitted out some electric taping around the corners of their rooms. They haven't had a problem since. Seems extreme, but i have an extreme fear! Dunno, maybe i just need to hold.... NO "£$"£ THAT.

Stupid 8 legged wilderbeats.

I'm going to get you a pet spider for your birthday!

I'll hang you upside down from inside my garage with a metal chain pinned to your *ahem*.

Turn on 200v and we'll see how you like it!

P.s. You don't know where i live! You don't? Do you? YOU DO DON'T YOU! Do you???

Don't get it wrong and stop in Australia... And don't Google Huntsman spiders; really don't!

Now without falling into the trap.... That's harsh! How dumb do you think i am?!

Also, reverse psychology doesn't work on me :p

@Sunnyknight:

Have you tried hypnotherapy?

Might take a couple of session but my help long term!

Anything is worth a try :)

That's interesting you say that, because it's what i was thinking.

Not sure how often i'd have to go, or if it's perma solved / temp solved?

Sea spiders.

I hate you. Like, not even dislike. I hate you.

George the Huntsman lived in Dad's shed for years. Hairy and about the size of your hand. Quite friendly really; he liked to hang around the light switch waiting for a pat. Huntsmen don't spin webs, although there were plenty of other spiders in the shed which did. The ones to really watch out for in Australia are Red Backs, which can kill you if they bite. I remember watching Deadly 60 when the host was in Adelaide (where I'm from) and letting Red Backs run over his hand. I thought "What an idiot", but perhaps they had the anti-venom on hand. Here in Blighty, spider bites might make you a bit ill, but in general they aren't any worse than a bee sting. I follow the rules that I was taught while growing up - leave them alone and they will leave you alone. I don't chuck the spiders out when I see them. They like to come in out of the rain, and who am I to turn them out into the storm. They really aren't any trouble.

"Be cool, girls might be watching."

How every man should live his life. :p

Or in some cases, "Be cool, guys might be watching". :p

True.

I suppose it could be simplified to "Be cool, people might be watching"... But it doesn't have the same emotion to it.

While living at the parents I was the chief spider catcher, my mother was so worried about them after I put them outside she would run around and close all the windows in case it wanted to come back in..

She has conkers all over the house and it seems to keep them at bay.
