Garacesh Posted December 19, 2014 Posted December 19, 2014 When there's sites like humble bundle and bundle stars offering 10+ games for a fiver, you don't question whether or not you'll play them, you just hit buy lol A lot of mine I'll never play, I accepted that long ago, but they're mostly games from bundles that came with something else I wanted. Yeah, I tend to buy humble bundles for 1-2 games but since they're non-transferable, I just activate them all.

I've got more games than I have time to play already, and there's nothing that I really really want (or I'd have bought it already). I can't justify paying more than x amount for a game that will probably be cheaper by the time I can play it, but if I can pick up something that I'm interested in for <£5 I don't feel that I'm totally wasting the money!

You used to be able to, as you got individual keys per games, but people would often pay $1 and then sell the keys off individually, so now you need to tie each bundle to a Steam account.

Some of them are older bundles, so should be OK? Have to check my account when I get home - I could have sworn that the last bundles I got still had individual keys. I don't think I've ever tied the accounts together, possibly because I've not got around to playing some of the more recent purchases!

It wouldn't make sense if you just logged in a different account to activate the next one.. So basically I think it might just be so you don't have to activate games you don't want or already have. Older bundles do still give keys, IIRC. If they haven't been redeemed, should be good.

E.g. you could buy about 20 non bundled games this sale. Would you ever get round to playing 15 16 17 18 19 20???? Would they take a back seat if better games came out?? ie mmos? I'm one who has been told i spend money like a cup, without the bottom and i pour water into it, however, it seems a lil silly to buy a lot at once and not play them? My 2 pence.

The only games I feel like I'll never play are the ones I buy in the Humble Bundles, however I don't care because I pay a lot to charity for it. The rest I eventually play, I put the games into categories in my steam library and go through them all (some stay installed )

More seriously, the answer for me is that I would like to have time to play all the games I have bought (with the exception of bundles and a couple I bought because I forgot I had them!). That's why I was after sort by price earlier: 6 games for under £12. (I managed not to throw in a few that were <£1 "because"). At that price I can afford not to play them and still not feel that I've lost a lot of cash. Maybe I'll have time when when I retire - though I suspect that we'll all be forced to work until we drop.

The bundles are assigned to a Humble Bundle account, the games themselves are only assigned to a Steam account on a game by game basis, you can give them away. There's a little gift icon to the right of the redeem box

Thinking about it some more, I'm pretty sure that's why Steam and other such sites are always having sales: a lot of us can't resist a bargain. We feel happy that we have got a game at a good price; they get paid whether we play or not. It's not as if the games have a use-by date, so we don't lose out as such.

flyinghaggis Posted December 20, 2014 Author Posted December 20, 2014 (edited) Been playing a bit of Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes and it's quite good fun but unbelievably short/small for a what was marketed as a full game. You basically attack the same, fairly small, compound and once completing the initial story, which only takes a couple of hours, you're then left repeating the same map carrying out different missions (kill these targets, rescue this target, blow up these places, etc). It's a decent port and entertaining but even for £11 on steam sale it doesn't really feel like great value due how limited what's on offer is. On the plus side it bodes well for the next 'proper' metal gear game though. This just feels like they were in the process of making the Phantom Pain, realised it was going to take 3-4 years to complete and they needed a way to raise some cash in the meantime to keep Konami ticking over and their shareholders happy! In terms of recommendations for other games on sale Valkyria Chronicles is on daily deal for £11 and is a fantastic game if you like JRPG/Turn-based/Strategy games like Final Fantasy/Advance wars.
