Office365 E1 subscriptions with Office App on iPad

I have a couple of customers who have Office365 E1 subscriptions for education which are free. They would like to use the Office app on an iPad however their Office365 logon does not give them rights to edit documents, only view them.

 

If they setup a free Outlook.com account, they get full access rights!

 

This doesn't make any sense to me as both accounts are free so why does the educational one not give the access rights people need on iPad?

 

Is there a way around this somehow?

 

Any information would be very useful, thanks in advance!

I believe it's down to where the files are stored - on the free one you can save to Dropbox but not to onedrive or something along those lines?

Do you have the pro plus licences activated in your Microsoft VLSC?

No, its to do with the account you sign into the app on the Ipad with.

 

As they have Office365, they have an account to logon however they cannot edit ANY documents!

We have E1 for Faculty staff, and for Students we have E1 plus "Student Advantage" which gives them free "full versions" of Office on up to 5 devices. We've bought ProPlus for Faculty at £1.70 pp/pm where it is necessary for staff to have full edit on their iPads and share facilities in the school Onedrive (for Business) area. Although I understand Microsoft are now changing this and as of beginning of December 2014, staff too can qualify for the free editable versions of Office as well as students.

That is correct and we have that for free!

Damn, there goes my plan for my little school, wanted to give each child an E1 account to edit documents on both iPads and Desktops. Might have to look into buying EES to upgrade office/Windows in the school to qualify.

Sorry just trying to get my head around this.

So instead of upgrading an account from E1 to E3 for office on ipad. I could get away with "Office 365 ProPlus for Faculty" at half the price
