Has this iPad had it?

Not too sure what to make of this!

 

I was handed the following iPad and told it's touch sensitivity was no more.

 

Upon closer inspection, I discovered that there was some sensitivity but it was very limited. I also found that whatever you pressed on, a border appeared around.

 

I did not have the iCloud user details to hand, so opted to install the IOS update as this was still on 7.

Unfortunately, it has made little change. If you look at the attached screen, you will see the border around the last area I pressed; 'Update Completed'. You have to press lots of times for this to happen.

 

I am able to get to the Settings page, but can't scroll down very far, not far enough to attempt to reset it from the device.

 

Any suggestions would be wonderful.

Probably a spannered digitizer. It's not had it completely, but it's whether it's worth the hundred and something it'll cost to get the digitizer replaced.

Have you tried pressing the home button 3 times?

If I recall correctly the box around objects shows when you have the voice over feature on.

 

I think you just have to fight your way into settings > general > accessibility and turn voice over off.

Someone has enabled the accessibility options, namely VoiceOver.

 

Taping once will select an item. (That's what the border is)

Double-tap to activate the selected item.

Use three fingers to scroll.

 

I think you might be able to turn it off by pressing the home button three or four times quickly.

Thank you, it was Voice Over. Took me about 35 minutes to sort it out. It was driving me mad. In the end, pressing home three times disabled it!

 

Lesson learned for next time!
