hi , need to stop student keep pressing the power on/off button on PCs.

a quick touch is all that is needed on our pcs (not 5 second hold in)

(not worried so much about file corruption as time wasted) Have Ranger. On workstation as admin can set power button disabled through control panel- power management. This then stops the power button working in admin, and continues to work even if you log off and log on as student user. (unless they hold power button down for more than 10 secs) . However when PC is shut down and restarted, the student login does not have the button disabled but the admin logon still has the button disabled, . i guess this might be ranger effect. hence i would have to log on as admin each time prior to student using the pc.any ideas?

Have you enabled the timeout in the BIOS's?

That forces the computer under all circumstances to only shutdown after the button has been held in for 4 seconds.
