[ipad] Passcode Reset

Any suggestions on easy ipad password management?

We are using meraki for our mdm solution witch does provide a passcode reset command. Unfortunately this only works if the device is connected to the wifi.

 

The scenario-

 

Staff take home an ipad and leave it there for a few weeks, they then manage to forget what passcode they have set and then bring them in to us (yay) The problem is the iPads are no longer connected to the network as they have to sign in (which they cant as the ipad is locked).

 

So currently we have to completely erase the device and start again which seems to be the only way to reset the passcode. We dont have a Mac (refuse to buy one just for iPads) and ipads are initaially setup from my PC using a generic iTunes backup.

 

Any ideas or suggestions? would be great to easily reset the passcode especially as xmas break is on its way so my new year will be filled with staff iPads with forgotten passcodes and sob stories "but i took all the family photos on my work device and let my son play with it who changed it"..............woop can't wait
