[sims] Slow inTouch load time

Not sure if anyone else has experienced the following,

 

We have recently installed inTouch (Sims) and the initial load of either a message which has been sent to a user or them loading the inTouch message screen is quite slow.

 

Once it has loaded it then works fine, this happens each time you login to Sims fresh,

 

If anyone has had the same issue could you let us know what you though was causing it.

Stupid question, they did tell you the hardware requirements are higher on (both the server and client) if you use InTouch? Seem to remember people having to double the amount of RAM the staff machines had.

The server is way more powerful than needed, 32Gb and processor doesn't pass 50% much even with this on.

 

We have checked the AV settings to make sure this isn't killing anything and like I said when it is running it is very fast, it is just the initial load of the message,

Doesn't matter, when it first loads it needs to load into memory which is disc IO. Also SIMS .net is very much client side - all the business logic is client application. So unless you workstations have 4gb ram and ssd it's gonna take a little while to load up dispite having a beefy server - not that doesn't help!!

Disk I/o on the clients is also low, we have a 10gb backbone with 1gb to machines, network is running at 5%, pcs all i5's with 3ghz processors and above, all 8gb and x64, (basically all brand new), when looking at the machines nothing spikes on the client end nor the server end which is why we are thinking more a config issue, the machines can open Photoshop in 5 seconds so loading inTouch shouldn't be an issue.

 

My machine which is a Mac pro, with i7 and ssd has exactly the same load time when in the bootcamp windows partition as the client machines.

We have checked AV load, this doesn't appear to scan anything on open, and we have added it to secures and impero exceptions and this also hasn't made any change.

I think you've just got to except sloppy coding. SIMS normally is fast? If so be tempted to install fiddler to see if it's making a HTTP\S request and it's waiting for a response or something.

The very first load of InTouch will take longer as it has to load a different framework however if you swap out the VPN/IIS to the new method using SIMS Services Manager you should see an improvement in load time.
