Harry1980 Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 Hi All, I have a Hitachi Ed-A100 projector which gives me a warning message. The message is "This Projector will not operate once disconnected." The projector is clearly connected. I have even connected my laptop direct in to the projector but still no joy. It had a clear filter message before and I cleaned the filter, since then this message has come up. Any idea how to overcome this issue??? The projector is out of warranty. Thanks
Tesla Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 When you cleaned the filter, did you disconnect it? an advertisement brochure i just saw on the web suggests it's a built in security feature that deters theft...
Harry1980 Posted November 17, 2014 Author Posted November 17, 2014 I switched it off and cleaned the filter. If it is a security feature, how to I overcome this problem?
jmak Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 I don't have experience of the Hitachi's, but the Epsons we have use a similar anti-theft device. If you unplug them from the mains you have to enter a pass code before it will display anything. I'd suggest giving Hitachi a call and asking them what the factory default is. If you didn't know about the feature, it's unlikely to have been changed. Maybe try 1234 and 0000 first?
Harry1980 Posted November 18, 2014 Author Posted November 18, 2014 Thanks guys I got it to work at the end....
fairm010 Posted November 18, 2014 Posted November 18, 2014 Please share how you got it working so that anyone looking at this thread in future can be helped.
bertster Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 Got the same issue on a Hitachi Ed-A101. Anyone know how to resolve it? Projector was taken down due to a water leak in the ceiling and now we cant get it past the security message. Thanks
Alis_Klar Posted December 14, 2015 Posted December 14, 2015 Hi, I have a Hitachi ED-x10 which is working OK but I want to take it down and move elsewhere. No remote either!
EngTech Posted March 20, 2017 Posted March 20, 2017 (edited) Hi All, this is my first post Sorry for pulling up such an old thread, I also have one of these projectors and would like to know if (and how) it is possible to reset this warning without knowing the pin. As I understand it the warning is a security feature to prevent theft. From reading the docs the orginal owner can set a PIN number for the projector, this pin number needs to be entered in order to override the warning message. However if the owner forgets their PIN a ten digit "Inquiring Code" can be displayed by holding "RESET" for 3 seconds. The displayed "Inquiring code" can then be sent to an Hitachi dealer who will upon confirming the owners details provide the correct PIN code. So does anyone know if this can be reset maybe via hardware, firmware update, etc etc? Edited March 20, 2017 by EngTech
psydii Posted March 20, 2017 Posted March 20, 2017 If the answer isn't within the group knowledge of edugeek, you could try these people: https://www.equinox.co.uk/services/end-user-support/chargeable-repair-services/ They used to run the warranty repair programme for these projectors.
Harry1980 Posted March 20, 2017 Author Posted March 20, 2017 I just changed the input setting (e.g. Computer 1) and it started to work.
MIkeNUnan Posted November 12, 2019 Posted November 12, 2019 Hatachi ED x50 ( this projector will not operate once disconnected ) Ifound that 4410 reset my projector. I then entered a new projector and new screen password (both) . My projector then worked. hope this helps someone. MIke
