Glasses!

My glasses aren't doing it for me today. I have 2 pairs, one has the reflective stuff on and one has the reactive lenses. I'm wearing the reactive ones today because they go better with what I'm wearing and my eyes are just aching! I'm just keeping them on for looking at the computer, but taking them off for walking about and stuff...

 

It's been a year since I got them. Optician said 2 year checks. I wore my other glasses yesterday and everything was fine. Anyone else get like this with the slightly different lenses?

 

I don't think I need my eyes testing again because the glasses improve my vision...

If you've just got them, it would be worthwhile going back to the opticians and getting them to double check that the lenses are correct. I had reactives but found them a right pain, now have normal glasses and prescription sunglasses.

Amen to that. Specsavers in consecutive years put one lens in 90 degrees out, next year the strength was out by a factor of 10.

 

I now have an "office pair" whicha re a gentle bi-focal for reading on the desk, and screen use.

When I used to wear contact lenses, when it was a dull day like today is I would find myself getting headaches when wearing them but would be ok with glasses. When it was a normal sunny day I would be ok with my contacts.

 

Is it dull where you are too? Whats the lighting like where you work?

I had a similar issue recently, i was getting migraines which would for last days.

I went to the optician (last check was about 12/18 months ago) and my prescription had change, left eye slightly worst but my right eye had improved. The change of .25 to .5 difference between my eyes was cause.

 

Some opticians don't always recommend changing lenses when the change in your eyes is small, it could be the changes are now big enough for you to notice.

I have 2 pairs. 1 for office, 1 for home. The difference being at home I am not plastered in front of a screen all day. I get checks once a year and it makes a massive difference even if I am just .25 out.

 

Go get checked. Also, the brightness of your monitor may have something to do with it. In which case you will want to use the chrome high contrast settings which make life so much easier.

I have two pairs with the same prescription, one with deeper lenses than the other and I find that gives a bit of a difference if I swap from one to the other (not to the extent of headaches though). I personally review my yearly; usually around september time I find that headaches are the order of the day. The prescriptions don't change wildly but if like me you're already prone to headaches and migraines it can make a real difference!

I have 3 pairs (and yet can never still find a pair...) 2 have my latest prescription, and one is an old pair which I use as a last resort pair, or when I am somewhere where I could break my glasses but a bit of fuzz doesn't matter that much. Even then, some days I just don't get on with my glasses either.

Don't forget that you can claim for the cost of eye tests because of our job

If you think they aren't right, go back and see the optician again. Even if it is a year later. I wear mine all the time so can't really relate to the multiple pair thing - would be nice to have more than one pair though to match different outfits! Edited November 14, 2014 by Novalee

I might go back and see next week. Thanks guys. I don't get headaches, just my eyes feel... weird... as if I'm going bogeyed... but I'm not!

 

I got mine from Tesco, so free second pair. Still had to pay £50 for the reaction coating though

I'm getting my first ever pair on Saturday, I didn't go for the anti reflective coating though, have I made a huge mistake?

I have 2 pairs just to have a different couple of styles but don't have any coatings apart from the free anti scratch on them.

 

They'll try and recommend the anti reflection for vdu but with TFT's reflection isn't soo much of an issue as with older glass crt's.

I got it on one of mine because I had problems when driving at night with the dazzle... it helps a bit. Was an extra £40 for the coating... I thought well, I'm gonna have these glasses for a long time, so may as well get them all singing and dancing! The frames alone were like £100 or something :-/

The first frames I liked were £220 at boots but I held off. Ended up going to Specsavers and getting 2 pairs for £80 haha.

Got my eyes zapped with lasers years ago, money well spend if i add up how many pairs of glasses i would buy over the years.
