Microsoft continues to offer more information on how businesses can leverage the features in Windows 10when the final version is released sometime in 2015. Today, the company revealed some of the different ways enterprise customers can manage their Windows 10 installations, including support for Azure Active Directory.Microsoft stated:

"With Windows 10 we'll also add the ability to leverage Azure Active Directory, devices can be connected to Azure AD, and users can login to Windows with Azure AD accounts or add their Azure ID to gain access to business apps and resources. At the same time, we'll ensure that Windows works better when using Active Directory and Azure Active Directory together. When connecting the two, users can automatically be signed-in to cloud-based services like Office 365, Microsoft Intune, and the Windows Store, even when logging in to their machine using Active Directory accounts. For users, this will mean no longer needing to remember additional user IDs or passwords."

Microsoft also plans to improve the mobile device management features in Windows 10, including support for multiple users, full control of the Windows Store and more. All of this will hopefully allow for more businesses to upgrade from Windows XP and Windows 7 to Windows 10, as many of them decided to bypass Windows 8.

Obvious benefit to those using Office 365, be interesting to see how this would be achieved, whether it requires infrastructure like ADFS or is completely separate.

About time!

 

This could be huge for our Office 365 students. Finally a single username and password for all services?

 

The question is, will we need to upgrade to windows 10 Domain controllers?

We already have a single username and password system with office 365, we use DirSync to sync active directory with office, and it works great

Yeah we use dirsync, but to have single sign on without the need for adfs would be great.

Will this offer better/reliable integration with OneDrive, i.e. mapped directly to Windows 10???

Its a shame they cant just integrate this with windows logins as it creates another point of failure for login when you start syncing things with the cloud.
