nicholab Posted November 6, 2014 Posted November 6, 2014 I am looking for options in laptops that will run Solidworks currently I have the below options. Attentively what's the cheapest laptop that will run Solidworks graphics wise? Edge E540 NVIDIA® GeForce® 710 M + 1GB VRAM NVIDIA® GeForce® GT740 M + 2GB VRAM ThinkPad W540 NVIDIA Quadro K1100M 2GB NVIDIA Quadro K2100M 2GB
3s-gtech Posted November 6, 2014 Posted November 6, 2014 I'd say that the 710M would be pretty much pointless over Intel HD. The GT740M will work okay I suspect, but obviously not certified. If this is dedicated and bought primarily for Solidworks, I'd get the Thinkpad W540 and whichever graphics card fits best in budget.
BKGarry Posted November 6, 2014 Posted November 6, 2014 The ThinBooks from veryPC run them fine, we have 170 of them which run solid works and AutoCAD (which you can get a site license for free now) running on them and it all runs fine. 1
ThinkLogic Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 Hi, We have a ThinkPad W540 available for evaluation if you would like us to send up to you so you can test it with solid works for a couple of weeks. Please let me know if you would like me to arrange this for you. There is no pressure just an offer to help. Regards Stu
