LeMarchand Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 (edited) Due to an almighty clanger dropped in one of my libraries, the current stock is completely messed up. I can create a csv with stock that was present at a recent stock check but isn't currently in stock - but can't see how to import it Anyone know if this is possible? MLSInstallations Posted November 5, 2014 Posted November 5, 2014 Morning LeMarchand, Sorry your stock has messed up! what happened in the library? The only way you can import it is via a marc file, a csv won't work for this unfortunately, how is it you are creating the CSV? i may be able to help with sorting that out for you and getting the correct one. Do you have any previous backups of the data? If you were to install you would lose any data since but it may mean that the library is back to normal again. https://www.microlib.co.uk/myMLS/KnowledgeBaseArticle.aspx?ArticleID=1695 Here is a link to one of our KBs about importing the marc file just to make it easy for you, to view you will have to log in with your customer number and postcode .
LeMarchand Posted November 5, 2014 Author Posted November 5, 2014 Thanks for the reply. Someone was put in the library pre-retirement and stock checked with library still open, which left an inaccurate database to begin with, but then (unknown to anyone else) tasked some children with scanning in stock in the new term! The computer has 2 partitions: the original XP (where the stock check was done) and W7. Whilst Stock Check is installed on the W7 partition, it's not available within JL so we ran a backup on the XP side and transferred it over. Got the CSV by exporting to CSV from both partitions and running a comparison, so we now have a list of stuff that was in the stock check, but not currently on the catalogue. I'll take a look at that article when I'm next on site, but they're planning on doing a proper stock check in January so it was just a "sticking plaster" needed for now. Once the library is shut I'll format the computer and reinstall JL so it should get Stock Check working.
MLSInstallations Posted November 5, 2014 Posted November 5, 2014 No problem at all, I hope it works out for you, sounds a bit messy! happy to help out if you get in touch so any issues we're more than happy to assist with
