Printer - Win7 but no 2012R2

We have a printer (Oki 5850) which are Windows 7 compatible, but not Server 2012R2. Universal Drivers don't work, for some reason. As we don't actually want to print directly from the server, I don't really mind that it isn't compatible, so is there a way that I can bully this printer onto the server and give it the correct Windows 7 drivers under "add additional drivers" so clients can print to it? My attempts have so far failed, as Devices & Printers doesn't like me adding a Universal Driver to the printer and a different "model" of driver under additional drivers.

If you mean add 32bit drivers to a 64bit server, you can do this by Print Management from a 32bit client PC.

 

Add the Print Server and add the driver via the 32bit client from within Print Management msc

The Microsoft Update Catalog supposedly has a driver compatabile with Windows 8.1 - could try that? Microsoft Update Catalog

Sorry for the delay, I accidentally deleted my notification email.

 

I don't mean that I just want to add a 32-bit driver to a 64-bit server, what I need to do is add the 64-bit "generic" driver to the server and the 32-bit model-specific driver. The model-specific driver doesn't work on S2012R2 but is fine for Windows 7, and the generic driver isn't suitable to this model of printer. Hence the need to add two different drivers.

 

Windows 8.1 drivers are no good, unfortunately, for the reason above.
