Move from Link2ICT

Hi any one here using Link2ict for Internet. we are looking to move away anyone have any suggestions on a new provide?

You can approach pretty much anyone, other than Virgin, for a leased line or high end fibre broadband for the school. Make sure you also factor in firewall, filtering, the remote backup, MIS support and if you need it, the central rec downloads.

We moved from Link2ICT to RM. They promised more than they delivered, but they are reasonably priced and a whole heap better than Link2ICT. We probably won't renew with them once our 3 year contract is up (currently in the second year).

 

Main issue we had was they messed up quite a few things during our migration (email and DNS being the main ones) and change request lead times are inconsistent. I look after two schools and the same request took 24 hours at one site and 5 days with prompting for the other.

Like a few of the other people on your post already, we have moved a good number of schools from Link2ICT over the past three or four years. So we have plenty of schools who you can speak to directly for their independent thoughts and experiences if that helps, rather than just a sales pitch from us

I have been looking to move away from Link2ICT Broadband as the uncontended 10mbps line is very inconsistent speed wise, and the filtering beggars belief sometimes. I have had quotes from RM, Schools Broadband, Trustnet, and Exa. Most quotes I have had only offer me FTTC with a guarenteed speed of 15Mbps, and I am still not sure whether a FTTC connection of 15Mbps would be any better than our inconsistent Link2ICT service. The lowest quote I have so far is £2450 per year for 3 years based on FTTC @ 15Mbps, with my only other option being a leased line which is going to cost me almost as much as Link2ICT's price for renewal this year. If anyone else knows of any other suppliers more reliable and/or cheaper I am all ears!

@dhm83 please remember that FTTC does not give guaranteed speeds. EoFTTC and full fibre leased lines do but not standard FTTC which is why some ISP's and some of our competitors offer. I'll send you a PM
