Lync, TMG, and Edge

Hi,

 

In my new role I noticed there is 3 servers for lync, one is the main lync server, 1 is a lync edge server and the other is a lynch threat management gateway server.

 

Is all this really necessary. We have offsite clients via direct access and vpn that use lync

 

I understand tmg is no more

Yes sounds right to me for on-premise Lync.

 

TMG is not part of Lync it is a separate product being used to Publish Lync I would expect but may also do other things in your setup.
