Bento Posted October 21, 2014 Posted October 21, 2014 Hi All, Just a quick one from me. We have about 40 iPads that are assigned to staff, these are configured using configurator, which also applies our Meraki MDM profile. The staff iPads are using the staff's own Apple ID which we then assign and revoke apps to via the MDM method. Great, all works (relatively) well. We have however got an iPad safe in our Library with 16 iPads in that are booked out as and when, setup the same way as the staff iPads (supervised with configurator, then MDM'd with Meraki). The question is; in this situation what is best? One "school" Apple ID that is signed in on all 16 of these, or a different ID for each one? Which would probably end up being [email protected]. These too are on the Meraki MDM. Still trying to work out the ideal system for us because my office (With the mac mini server) is at the other end of the school to the Library so it really has to be a wireless solution. Thanks in advance.
Brimstone Posted October 21, 2014 Posted October 21, 2014 A different ID per iPad, managed distribution will not work otherwise....
Bento Posted October 22, 2014 Author Posted October 22, 2014 Thanks Brimstone, During my testing it was all setup and working with one ID across multiple iPads, however just wanted to make sure that I was doing it right for other reasons that I may have missed.
iom100 Posted October 22, 2014 Posted October 22, 2014 Have you seen this document? https://meraki.cisco.com/lib/pdf/meraki_whitepaper_ios.pdf It has all the different models mapped out with proc and cons for each. 1
mikkydoos Posted October 22, 2014 Posted October 22, 2014 I'm using one ID and I have problems with them all syncing photos etc between them. Lengthy job to separately create ID's for each one
biz Posted November 12, 2014 Posted November 12, 2014 @mikkydoos it is a lengthy job, but if you have access to a Mac there are Apple Script files on Github that will create (https://github.com/aaronfreimark/Apple-ID-AppleScript) and verify (https://github.com/ntoqiakt/AppleID-Verification-AppleScirpt) the IDs for you
