gshaw Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 (edited) The Nexus 9 is now listed in Google's Play Store. Same prices as Amazon. Nexus 9 (£319-£459) Nexus 9 Keyboard Folio (£110, coming soon) Nexus 9 Covers (£35, coming soon) £110 for a plastic keyboard that costs peanuts to make, all these manufacturers must be laughing all the way to the bank! The design suggests Microsoft got the folding keyboard cover right with the Surface and others are copying now. Shame MS squandered the opportunity with Windows RT. Edited October 17, 2014 by gshaw
flyinghaggis Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 (edited) The Nexus 9 is now listed in Google's Play Store. Same prices as Amazon. Nexus 9 (£319-£459) Nexus 9 Keyboard Folio (£110, coming soon) Nexus 9 Covers (£35, coming soon) £320 starting price, £80 for another 16Gb of storage and £110 for a keyboard cover! Looks like it's the end of the line for reasonably priced Google Nexus devices It says a lot that they've priced it at exactly the same level as an iPad Mini 3 (£320). Except for £400 Apple actually give you more memory! I guess the new Tegra K1 is probably a tad faster than the Apple's previous gen A7 but even though...... I don't see Google shifting many of these. Edited October 17, 2014 by flyinghaggis
Arthur Posted October 17, 2014 Author Posted October 17, 2014 Looks like it's the end of the line for reasonably priced Google Nexus devices It seems that way unfortunately. I guess Google are no longer interested in selling Nexus devices at (or around) cost price. The 32GB Nexus 9 with keyboard cover is almost approaching the price of the cheapest Surface Pro 3 and that comes with 64GB storage, double the RAM (4GB), Core i3 and a digitizer!

Except for £400 Apple actually give you more memory! A Tegra K1 touchscreen Chromebook only costs £280. That's £39 less than the cheapest N9 and it comes with a keyboard. £110 for a plastic keyboard that costs peanuts to make, all these manufacturers must be laughing all the way to the bank! Google's keyboard case is exactly the same price as the Surface Pro 3 Type Cover. Edited October 17, 2014 by Arthur
Arthur Posted October 17, 2014 Author Posted October 17, 2014 (edited) The Nexus 6 is now available to pre-order in the Play Store (if you are American). https://play.google.com/store/devices/details?id=nexus_6_blue_32gb The Nexus 7 and Nexus 10 have also been officially discontinued. If/when Google Play for Education comes to the UK, it's going to be quite expensive buying Nexus 9s for students. Edited October 17, 2014 by Arthur
Arthur Posted October 25, 2014 Author Posted October 25, 2014 I bet Amazon are going to get a lot of cancelled orders for the Nexus 9! https://twitter.com/PaulOBrien/status/525999986509905920 http://i.imgur.com/uFYVFEq.png
Arthur Posted November 4, 2014 Author Posted November 4, 2014 The Nexus 6 is being released in the UK on 1st December 2014.
Arthur Posted November 5, 2014 Author Posted November 5, 2014 Nexus 6 pre-orders start on 18th November 2014.
sonofsanta Posted November 5, 2014 Posted November 5, 2014 I'm hoping against hope that Motorola release their Verizon (US) exclusive DROID Turbo in the UK, as it looks the better phone than the Nexus 6 - 5.2" screen (1440p), 2.7GHz quad core + Adreno 420, 21MP camera and a claimed 48 hours of battery. Motorola stay close to stock Android as well, and keep up with updates. Probably won't be cheap, mind...
hardtailstar Posted November 5, 2014 Posted November 5, 2014 Nexus 6 pre-orders start on 18th November 2014. @Arthur is that the Play Store? I cant access twitter in school. Thanks
