Rebuilding the Package Builder

Hello All,

 

My IT Tech wrongly restored the package builder instead of rebuilding it to create a clean workstation! Now getting a domain trust error! Have been on to RM Support and they have said to rebuild but trying to rebuild via RMMC is not doing anything!

 

Could anyone suggest what I can do next?

Use it as an opportunity to get rid of it. Use VirtualbBox/VMWare Workstation to make an immutable drive package builder. No faffing around rebuilding it when it's done!

I did some reading about how others had installed their package builder virtually and I would like to do the same. Do you know of any resources that will guide me through the setup?

Not off hand, it's been years since I've done it; easiest way would be to do a P2V (Physical to Virtual) conversion. Otherwise build a virtual machine in the same way as you'd build the package builder with the relevant name etc, then once it's done turn it off, set the drive to immutable in whatever software you use and that's it. You can turn it on, run discovery step 1, install software, run discovery step 2, save the package and turn off. All changes are immediately reverted to how they were before you turned on in the first place. Restarts will not do this, so if software needs a restart it can still do that without affecting anything.

Or i'm probably stating the obvious, but have you tried a different build name for the workstation?

Thanks for the responses guys We rebuilt using bootable USB... Plenty more to learn on the RM/CC4 side... Hopefully going on the next CC4 Course
