I would like to create a login banner much like the one in the picture below for the login screen in Windows 8. I would prefer if it could be group policy deployable but doesn't have to be. Also I know it's definitely possible because I know a school in the local area that has the exact same banner but on Windows 8. Hope someone can help thanks :).

They do have RM Connect but I would like to know if anyone knows how they managed to do it. Also you cannot change the background of the login screen easily on Windows 8. Anyone else got any other ideas?

You could try and find a lock screen app which might allow you to do it, If you have access to the machine with RM connect you could dig around and see how it works.

It used to be a case of hacking the (ms)gina.dll but not sure what RM use to create this :(

I did that back in XP but won't be again as windows updates broke it all the time.

I have created a custom lock screen image for my windows 8.1 image, and built it into the image process. But all you need to do is replace the image file with your own.

I mounted the install.wim and replaced it there, so all new builds have the custom screen.

Here is what I have it my notes

Will need to take ownership and give permissions for the following

rename windows\web\screen\img100 to img100-1

copy in the replacement img100

Cheers

I think with RM it's a program that is running in the background as you can change the message on the banner on the fly. It's not hard set.
