Not sure if this is the right thread but, here goes.

We have a Windows 2012 R2 print server with multiple shared printers for our domain. We deploy these printers via group policies set on OU's in Active Directory using the Print Management tool in Admin Resources.

The problem we are getting is, on random computers with random users logged on, the printer is disappearing. Usually a logoff/logon is enough to reconnect the printer, and I have even seen the printer just reappearing in the printers folder without the user doing anything to force this ie, restarting the print service. BTW, restarting the print service does not usually remap the printer. This is only happening on Windows 8 machines.

Google doesn't seem to know anything about this, please help before I go mad!

Just re-read posts

@LukeC Yeah, this is for Windows 7/Server 2008 plus we don't get "The Specified port is unknown"

@synaesthesia This is the way we deploy these printers, Print Management tool > Right Click Printer > Deploy with group policy

Looks like it's a bug in Windows 8/Server 2012 R2.
