MrFrostmaul Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 Hello, Left mac mini on for a few weeks acting as a caching server, an iPad we have is not working correctly so wanted to load into iTunes and reload the iPad. Found out that the Mac Mini has problems it self. When it boots normally it just stuck on the Apple Icon on the white background. When booting into the Recovery I am faced with this error: So don't have a clue what to do next to reload the OS or somehow recover it.. Any help with this one? Thanks
furby Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 Have you got another Mac to use? I'd probably just load up OS X onto a USB DiskMaker X try and repair the disk and permissions in the recovery mode (Disk Utility) and if that doesn't work reload the OS.
soveryapt Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 You could press D when powering on which should take you into Apple's hardware test facility to make sure everything is ok. Or you could try booting into Safe mode by holding down shift when powering on. If the hardware test shows any faults you can look at resolving those. I've only found macs to stop booting completely though when either the logic board is screwed or the hard drive is on it's way out. You could try various resets of the controllers as well (Google Mac Controller Resets and you'll find a link somewhere near the top) just in case it's gotten a bit confused. Andy
