[ms office - 2013] Access database creating many database(x).mdb files

We have an access database (accbd) which is shared by many users. Since moving to Office 2013 I've noticed a number of mdb files database(x).mdb, where x is a number, being created in the same folder, and holding the same information. Is it safe to delete these files, or even better, prevent them from being created?

As far as I can tell, this might be related to an old bug where having "compact on close" enabled. Disabling it should stop it happening.

Thank you - I've turned that off - am I safe to delete the copies?

I think so, yeah. I'd try moving them out of the directory for a bit, see what happens and if its fine, delete later.
