Backup Exec - Completed with exceptions

Hi all,

 

We have backup exec 2010 r2, after upgrading our virtual hosts to VMWare 5.5 the backup jobs finish with exceptions.

 

I will post the exact error message in a moment.

 

Anyone got any ideas how to fix it?

Error Message:

 

Backup- SERVER - AOFO: Initialization failure on: "\\SERVER\E:". Advanced Open File Option used: Microsoft Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS).

V-79-10000-11226 - VSS Snapshot error. The Microsoft Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS) snapshot provider selected returned: "Unexpected provider error". Ensure that all provider services are enabled and can be started. Check the Windows Event Viewer for details.

how did you get it fixed out of interest?

Upgrade to the version to one that is officially supported as Symantec will tell you to go away if your not matching the SCL list, that assumes you have active support etc...

 

The Oldest version that supports 5.5 is BUE 2012, however given how much bad press it got I'd go for 2014 which restores some sanity to it compared to 2012 which was just stupid as they hid too much away!
