HDMI over Cat5e

Hi guys,

 

Looking into the possibility of installing HDMI to our projector over cat5e. I've looked into a few solutions, some use one cat5e cable, then some use two; is there anyone out there that can give me a definitive response to why some solutions only need one cable and some need two? I gather from the price that if you want one cable transmitter / receiver then the cost is much more.

 

I've Google'd but it only tends to offer me the actual product and not the answer to what difference there is between the two.

This is just a rough guess but I'd say it'd be to do with transmission distances, the version of HDMI the transceivers are using and whether they're using dual link connections or not.

 

It's probably safest if you stick with the dual cable versions.

I can't tell you why it's better to use a single cat5e or two cat5e cables but I can say we use a few kits that use a single cable and work fine.

 

We use a few of the cheap Pro Signal kits from CPC, 1:1, 1:2 and 1:4 kits. Not had a problem with any of them.

+1 for CPC Kits. Only use single cable here, but runs are a max of 10m.
