Cloning Issue

Hi,

 

I don't expect many people to be on here at almost 10 on a sat night.

 

Having a bit of an issue with a teacher computer not cloning correctly. So it’s a Dell OptiPlex 3010 connected to a Casio XJ-M130. The Casio is connected to the PC via HDMI and the monitor is via VGA. The monitor is a 17" widescreen. I can get them to clone however my monitor is locked on 1366 × 768 which in turn cuts the projector image down and won’t allow it to full screen. I have tried the following

 

Updated with latest graphics / chipset driver

Updates Bios

Reset Projector

Reset Monitor

Changed HDMI/VGA Leads

 

If I disconnect the HDMI from the computer I can then change the resolution, I can also change it on the monitor if I have it on extended desktop.

 

Anybody else have any other ideas. My Next step will be to just try and reimage the whole computer. I'd rather not do that.

WHat graphics chip does it run - does it support full output to both displays or is it locked to one and the other has to accept what it gets?, if you put both on VGA or HDMI via a splitter is it any better?

Is it the first time you have used the computer & projector together? Did it work before?

 

I maybe completely wrong, but looking at the Spec details of the Projector, it does take a HDMI (480 - 1080) INPUT, but the projectors optimum resolution, being an XGA, is 1024 x 768.

But with your monitor being a widescreen, the computer realises the nearest optimum resolution to be able to display both monitors is 1366 x 768 will cause cropping (because if you clone the screens, the resolutions have to match, but extending your desktop act as 2 independent monitors, with independent resolutions).

 

Number of quick ointments to try;

If it will allow, put resolution to 1024x768. This may work by filling your projector screen fully but stretching your monitor image,

Replace your monitor for a square monitor, they ratios will match and it wont clip/stretch but you may still not get much more above 1024x768

Hi Thanks for your replies.

 

Graphics chip is Intel.

 

I have exactly the same setup in other rooms and it works fine. I must admit i haven’t tried another monitor. We do not have many 4:3 monitors in school anymore.

 

I did have it through a splitter with both connected via VGA. This was when there was a dell Optiplex 330 in there. Worked lovely although the colour was a bit pale on the projector. So over the summer i replaced it with a Dell 3010 and had the projector connect via HDMI (sorted the colour problem out) this worked perfectly. Until we had an external letting about a week ago, not entirely sure what they have done, but since then i now have the problem above.
