Thanks - think that bit is clear now., i think the bit i'm trying to get my head around is whether or not it needs to have the original media with it. We can get this from the manufacturer for an additional £40+, however some companies sell this on for an additional cost, and its only a recovery CD that they have made from the laptop. I'm just trying to get an understanding of what is the legal and non legal way of doing this. hate to be stung down the line!

Does anyone know the ins and outs of licencing for refurbished machines? Been trying to find a contact at Microsoft without joy. I work in a school but also own a company providing Refurbished machines. I'm trying to gather the facts on what we are allowed to do in regards to licencing. There are a lot of conflicting reports that the machines need to have ORIGINAL recovery media with the laptop, however some companies charge extra for this. I also need to get a full understanding of what machines i have to upgrade with a new win 10 COA. I'm assuming everything with a win 8 or lower key. Its a bit of a minefield and ive tried several forusms to get the correct info. Thought i'd try here as this has never failed me!! I cant remember the reason, however we are unable to enrol them into the new school. It's to do with results etc. We would effectively be removing every student from one school in year. It's a complicated one, we cant add them as a guest as we have sunce found out that we can only have them as a guest for 6 weeks max

Hi i have an interesting one for you all. We have 3 schools in our trust. One of them will be closing at Easter and all the students will be absorbed into the other 2. In regards to SIMS. We have to keep them on the existing schools MIS system so we can register them AM and PM. However for most products that we use, they require an MIS import. We need the students to be on the other MIS system. Can we have them on 2 with the same UPN? Will that mess anything up? I'm thinking about the above it would mean that the student would need to be registered twice AM and PM on 2 separate systems We use Go 4 schools which goes over the top of SIMS and this works well for our needs. The problem is with things like Oliver, Live register parent pay...ect.ect... these all rely on a import from sims, manually adding them could cause duplicated when the children officially leave the school and become part of the other one It's a bit of a mess at the moment, and know one really knows what happening and people we have about 3 weeks to do it all"!!!!! Hi, We have just joined up 2 of our schools within the trust. The idea behind it is that the two will merge in September to create a through school. For the moment we still have 2 sims servers with 2 separate sims databases. Is there an easy way to set it up so that the clients on both sites can connect to both databases? I've had a go with the connect.ini, and even tried a script to chage it, but not had much luck with it Does anyone have any suggestions?

Hi all, I inherited this school website and unfortunately the person updating it seems to have broken it - i have limited html knowledge and wondered if anyone could cast an eye over the code and tell me why on earth it's stopped working. Whenever i try to save and update the other files attached to this template. it throws up an error about a unbalanced end of instance tag. I may be blind but i just cant see it. Tried your key instead of the KMS one i had. Pushed it to 10 clients (just to be safe) Still the same KMS count is still 1. I checked on the client adn it's looking at the correct server and port and the DNS setting for it is correct

Using the KMS key provided to me from Microsoft Volume licence center. I have installed onto sever and not directly onto clients

My KMS server is running on windows 2008 r2. KMS Version is 3.1. We have just rebuilt the entire network over the summer so it's a brand new install. I currently have about 60 unique machines on which i'm trying to activate office. The KMS server sees that they have the product and allows me to install the product key onto them without a problem. However just s not adding them to the count, which remains at 1.

Hi All, Having an issue that is starting to drive me a little insane. I have 350 machines in the school that all have office 2016 on. Setting up the KMS server and it only reports a count of 1 even though it's had 400 + requests. I've tried instaling the update for ffice 2016 kms host. I've been looking at this for days now and i cant figure it out? Windows 7 activates really well. I've even investigated ways of manually increasing the count on the server to 5 so that it will start activating, but have not had much luck with finifn one for office. Hi, We have several kindles in school, which have parental controls enabled on them. We have blocked the installation of games and such. However we have found that although the kids cannot de-register the kindle without the parental control password. However they can factory reset them. Does anyone know anyway to stop them from doing this? Many Thanks Nick

That will be my last attempt as opening it up isnt looking too promising at the moment. Do you know if its possible to boot into ubuntu live on a mac? I could then mount the drive from in there.

This is probably a really simple one for all the mac experts out there. I have a mac and it won’t boot. From what I can see it tries to repair the disk 3 times and then shuts down. I have been into disk utilities and have a look and have tried to manually repair it. However it just tells me that the partition is bad and needs to be reformatted and mac osx needs to be reinstalled. OK that bit above is fine - does anyone know what the best way to get all of the data from the hard drive before wiping it. I have tried Taking a copy of the drive onto a removable drive - it just restarts when it gets to about 92% done Install mac os onto a removable drive (formatted correctly) from the tools after putting in my apple id it tells me the service is down, or if i use the disks it doesn’t show the removable drive in the list of drives I'm a bit stuck on this one. Hi, I am using Dview cam software, for our IPCCTV. I love the software its runs really well and is easy to use. I have mostly Dlink cameras, however i have a few TrendNet IP cameras. Now reading up i should be able to connect these to the software but when I try to add the Vendor selection is greyed out. Has anyone had any success connecting other cameras to the DView Cam Software? If so how? It only affects 5 cameras but I really wanted them all running from the same system. I have stopped it using IPv6 as far as i can see its using a DHCP address that it is getting from my network adapter i can ping the address and everything else.
