How do we get to be part of the webinars? Just watched the recording and indeed, looks very good, and great to hear there's no additional charges, if you already have 'client' licenses to use.

Just a small thing to point out, i think this will rewrote the iPads to be supervised. It might not and I'm willing to be corrected on that but i think it will.

This makes it essentially useless to me as there is no feasible way to supervise over 700 iPads that are currently in use.

And even supervising before hand out is a pain and was deemed not work the investment as they are being used as personal devices in our scenario.

I doubt that, as the big thing is the fact that this can be used with BYOD. Obviously, they can remove the app if the devices aren't supervised.

I'd question what happens when the devices are off network. Will the iPad be 'bogged down' because it can't communicate with the Impero server?

Performance wise makes no difference really if off the network. Sits there to be honest as not connected to Impero Server (same as current version). Over people asking about webnairs look under events on the website.

That's what i was asking and that is great news!

What's the selling model on this? Can it be bought as just an iPad part or is it bundled in with the main system only?

During the webinar it was said that an iPad is classed as a device. There's no separate license needed, assuming you have spare device licenses. It looks to be tied in to Impero Pro.

This would be a great addition. We currently only have Staff iPads here so they don't need to be monitored too closely like this.

I currently use Meraki to manage our iPads.

We have been running Impero for over 3 years now using regular Windows computers and because of this thread I contacted my account manager at Impero. They gave me a spot in one of their webinars where I received a Live demo of most of the new functionality in the latest version of Impero. They gave a great and easy to understand demo (If it was recorded, it would be a great demo to show to management as well, if you need to do some more convincing!), after the demo there was a lot of opportunity to ask questions directly and get an answer.

After the demo I contact my account manager again and asked for a trial run of the last version. After making sure we are able to handle the new update (has some requirements on the installed versions in your network, but nothing more) we just received the update that should include iPad support. I will be doing a test run with 1 class (we have some licences to spare) for a week of 2 or 3 and see how the teachers (and students!) like the Impero client. This week we will be doing a test install and see how it works.

Ill keep this updated a bit.

Just had a word with Impero myself; came here to find the Webinar above - I'm still truly amazed that Apple have allowed this (it's totally out of their comfort zone!).

It's a total game changer though! Finally - useful management on iOS! Now integrate other parts of MDM such as app deployment and we'll be laughing ;)

I was speaking to someone last week and they said Impero were very surprised at him communicative Apple had been with them on this project.

Normally it's just waiting for Apple to pick up but this time Apple called back...
