Not sure where in the UK you are but in Leeds there is a place called the Leeds Networking Academy. Although not specifically "SAN's", they run a VMware vSphere configuration course which as part of it's brief covers connecting to SAN's.

The course: The Network Academy | VMware vSphere: Install, Configure, Manage v5.5

See point 6 on detailed course outline: https://mylearn.vmware.com/mgrreg/courses.cfm?ui=www_edu&a=one&id_subject=46424

You would almost definitely be better off running this as a closed solution. I know a group of trainers that deliver the HP courses and looking at that pricing, if you had just one other person interested you could have a trainer come to you. If you had 3-5 interested you would definitely save on that price.

It would be worth asking around.

Is it worth it these days? SANS, at least in education have a limited lifespan. I would seriously question anyone considering it now unless they're unlucky enough to be a secondary with a seriously poor internet connection (and then storage is the least of their worries!)
